A genetic condition that increases the risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer.

Symptoms of HBOC

For breast cancer, Lump in breast or underarm area, Nipple discharge, Changes in breast size or shape For ovarian cancer, Abdominal swelling, Pelvic discomfort, Chronic indigestion, Nausea

Associated cancer in HBOC

Prostate Cancer, Melanoma, Breast Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, Ovarian Cancer

Diagnosing HBOC:

Genetic testing- BRCA1 and 2 testing to identify mutations in these genes.Regular screenings- annual mammograms and pelvic exams.Genetic counselling- discuss family history and assess risk for HBOC.
